(1) This is a shot of the second pitch of White Whale from Orange Julius taken by Errett Allen on 10/11/03. The climber in the photo is on the section where we employed the foot jamming.
(2) Julie begins the first pitch of White Whale.
(3) Julie climbs the first pitch of White Whale.
(4) Julie nears the belay ledge atop the first pitch of White Whale.
(5) The belay ledge atop the first pitch provided a nice view to the southwest. The Bookmark Cliff is on the left and if this was a better photo you would be able to see Hallet Peak, Otis Peak, Taylor Peak, and Powell Peak off in the distance.
(6) Julie begins the second pitch of White Whale.
(7) Julie jams the second pitch of White Whale. In this photo Julie is in roughly the same spot as the climber in Errett Allen's photo.
(8) View of The Bookend from the belay ledge atop the second pitch of White Whale.
(9) View of The Bookmark from the belay ledge atop the second pitch of White Whale.
(10) Julie begins the final pitch of White Whale.
(11) Julie unclips her rope and clips mine on the third pitch of White Whale.
(12) Julie negotiates the little overhang on the final pitch of White Whale. It was a lot easier than it looks.
(13) Looking up at the cliff during the walk off. The small tree sticking out of the cliff face in the center of the photo is growing on the belay ledge above the first pitch.
(14) View of White Whale during the walk off. You can make out a climber near the top of the second pitch.
(15) Looking back at the cliffs during the hike out. You can't see White Whale from here because it's tucked in behind The Right Book (the tallest cliff).
(16) Because the parking lot was full when we got there we had to walk all the way back down to Devils Gulch Road where we parked the car. However, this enabled me to snap this photo of Lumpy Ridge with a herd of elk enjoyed the pastures of McGregor Ranch in the foreground.
